The Watercolours Impiani Resort is a beautiful and relaxing resort located on Perhentian Kecil (small) island in the Perhentian islands.

The Impiani chalets are spacious and fitted with air-conditioning. All have their own bathroom, veranda and a fantastic jungle setting. They are priced according to location: ‘Beach’, ‘Garden’ or ‘Hillside’.

Impiani’s beach is one of the finest on the island. There are no crowds as we are the only resort to use it! If relaxing at our resort is not enough, we offer snorkelling, canoeing or jungle trekking. We also offer SCUBA diving at our ‘Watercolours’ Dive Centre, located just 5 minutes away by boat with a free pick-up and drop-off service.

Watercolours is run by a small ‘family’ international team: Mike, Nor, Anke and Peter run the business from the islands and take an active role in every aspect of the day-to-day operations. This ensures  the quality of your stay.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch and dinner offer choices from our a la carte menu. In the evenings, a specials menu is also available. On alternate nights, weather allowing, we prepare great BBQ evenings; tables are placed on the beach so guests can eat with the sea in front and the stars overhead. Our food is prepared with care and attention to satisfy all appetites and tastes.

We strive to continue our personal service that sets up apart from bigger resorts – we take care to talk to our customers and make them feel very welcome.
The Watercolours reputation is one for good food and service and we the many repeat customers proove this.

High season is usually from July to August. The resort is open from February to October.

Best time to visit

Perhentian can be dived from March till October. The resort is closed from November till February. The better times for diving is from April to September yearly.

Getting Here

Perhentian island is easily accessible by a 50 min flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Kota Bahru, Kelantan. Malaysia airlines (www.mas.com.my) and AirAsia (www.airasia.com), the region’s low cost carrier have daily flights to Kota Bahru. Airport transfers can also be arranged from Kota Terengganu, Terengganu.

Speedboat Ferry

The ferry boats from Kuala Besut do not have fixed departure times. However, they leave at regular intervals from around 7am.

Ferries rarely leave Kuala Besut after 4.30 - 5pm. In the very low season (approx Feb and October) it may be advisable to contact us regarding ferry departures as  there can be as few as 2 ferries per day. If you email us your travel details we will be able to give advice on ferry times as we can contact the ferry operators for you.

If you have purchased an Impiani Package then your ferry transport is included in the cost so no additional purchase is needed.

The journey to the islands takes just over 30 minutes. The ferry boatman will ask you where you are going so he can drop you directly at our resort. The ferries are speedboats equipped with twin engines. Lifejackets are provided, although the crossing is usually smooth.

Return Ferry to Kuala Besut

You will be picked up directly from Impiani resort. There are 3 ferry departure times:
Morning: 0800
Afternoon: 1200 and 1600*
* In very low season (eg, early February and late October) the 1600 ferry may not be running.
