4 Day 3 Night: Bike, Hike and Mt Kinabalu climb including Village Homestay (SB/KKMKBHVH4)
An opportunity to improve the chances of a successful summit climb by warming up with a trekking and biking route well off the main tourist trail. Stay in a secluded hill-top village and learn about the locals way of life. Magnificent views of the sunset and Mt Kinabalu.

Day 1: Depart Kota Kinabalu and transfer to start of biking. 2-3 hours, some hills and approx 25 km. Cross giant suspension bridge and time to cool off with swim in clear river. After lunch, trek into stunning rain forest following river for 1 hour before begin steep climb to village. After washing, dinner will be cooked and taken with local family. After dinner try some local rice wine.  Sleep either in tent or local house on roll mat.
Day 2: After breakfast, we say goodbye to our hosts and depart the village via a different route to which we arrived.  After a short uphill we head down a river valley where we cross two rivers before a steep climb will take us to lunch at a noticeably cooler 900 m a.s.l. We continue along a narrow trail until we reach the road head where our transfer to Kinabalu park awaits us. Along the way there are fantastic photo opportunities of the mountain if clear. After checking into the accommodation * the tour services will end.
* Accommodation will either be in park h.q or nearby comfortable mountain hotel
Day 3: Organise climbing payments, meet guide and trek to halfway point of mountain at Laban Rata (3,300 m) where accommodation and meals are already included.
Day 4: Wake up 2 a.m and reach summit of mountain for sunrise. Return to Laban Rata, breakfast, and head back to park H.Q, next destination.

Tour includes transfer from Kota Kinabalu and to accommodation in or near Mt Kinabalu park, drinking water, bike, helmet, 3 nights accommodation (1 x village, 1 x mountain hotel/park, 1 x mountain hut, English speaking guide and meals as follows: lunch and dinner day 1, breakfast and lunch day 2, breakfast and dinner day 3, breakfast day 4.

Tour excludes: All meals unless specified above, all climbing payments as required by Sabah Parks which include but are not limited to: guide fee, climbing permit, insurance, bus transfer to start of trek, porter hire if required, transfer to next destination after climb.

5 Day 4 Night: Mt Kinabalu Sea to Summit Bike and Hike Challenge including Village Homestay (SB/KKMKBHVH4)
A fantastic adventure that will take you from the sandy beaches of the South China Sea to   the highest point between the Himalayas and New Guinea, all in just 5 days by biking and hiking well off the main tourist trail. Also includes a stay in a secluded hill-top village where you will  learn about the locals way of life. The village offers magnificent views of the sunset and Mt     Kinabalu.

Day 1: 07.30 hotel pick up from Kota Kinabalu and drive 1 hour to beach-side starting point or meet at beach-side hotel. Here bike for approximately 3 hours on sealed roads through quite villages. Ride includes 1 big hill. After lunch continue on foot to our comfortable riverside camp, trek takes 1 hour through rubber plantations. Afternoon time to cool off with swim and tubing in clear river or explore area on your bike. Evening bar-b-q, tented accommodation.

What to wear/bring?

before the mountain - easy to breath clothing, cycling shorts, hats
going up the mountain - suitable warm clothing, waterproof gear (jacket,hat & shoes), good traction shoes/boots, sunglasses, water purification tablets for mountain water at refill stations long trail, personal medication, snacks or instant meals (hot water available at park & base camp), medical kit, water bottle. Best time to visit

The best time to visit Kinabalu is during the drier seasons between February to April. The rainy season is usually from November to January and from May to July although global warming is blurring all of this. If bad weather persists while at base camp, you may not be allowed up to the summit.

Getting here

KK International Airport can be reached direct from a number of International cities. Alternatively, there are daily flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) which can be booked via Malaysia Airlines (www.mas.com.my) or AirAsia (www.airasia.com), the region's low cost carrier.
